A well designed outdoor space is the key to relaxation and entertainment in the summer months. With the warm weather finally coming to New England, we've been pulling inspiration from outdoor spaces around Cape Cod and other designers photos, like this lovely porch by John Bessler! When designing our own outdoor spaces, Mackenzie & Company always aims for eclecticism. Many furniture retailers conveniently sell collections of matching patio "sets". However, mixing products, styles, and materials is the key to creating an outdoor design with interest and depth, just as it is with interiors!
Utilizing a bench on one side of an outdoor dining area creates clean lines that can tone down busyness from the other larger dining chairs. Benches can also clear sight lines to beautiful views in your backyard and beyond.
A banquette or sectional can double as an outdoor lounge or dining area. Pair it with small square tables that could function separately for casual use or placed together to create a large dining area. Add small scale folding chairs when more seating is needed for dining purposes.
We love this casual and flexible patio space by Three Birds Renovations! By using backless barstools and a bench, diners can be flexible with their positioning and conversations. Add a pair of lounge chairs just beyond the dining table for even more flexibility.
